The nvd3 charts handle it by cycling through multiple dashing options. <img width="642" alt="Screen Shot 2021-10-19 at 9 31 42 AM" src="https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/61221714/137953424-df0d1350-2b34-42f8-98bc-cfdde6230867.png";> I haven't seen users using more than 2 time shifts in a single chart, but it could certainly happen - the setup allows that.
