From having a quick look at the current `setup.py` being used for setuptools, the existing `setup.py` is actually super simple (use package.json for version string) and could be easily ported to hatch. I'm no expert in these matters, but maybe it'd be worth moving the conversation to Town Hall (tomorrow) or Slack, or an Ideas thread in Discussions?
