GitHub user dosubot[bot] added a comment to the discussion: How to immediately see details of an outlier point in a boxplot?
<!-- Answer --> Superset’s boxplot chart already shows a tooltip with the outlier value (and group label, if present) when you hover over an outlier dot—so users can immediately see which value is the outlier just by hovering over it. However, the tooltip does not show the underlying entity/row or extra context like Bubble Chart tooltips do; it’s limited to the value and group label only. There’s currently no built-in way to display more detailed info (like the entity or row) in the outlier tooltip, and adding this would require frontend code changes. The main boxplot tooltip (when hovering over the box itself) shows summary stats, not individual outlier values [see source](https://github.com/apache/superset/blob/master/superset-frontend/plugins/plugin-chart-echarts/src/BoxPlot/transformProps.ts). For deeper exploration, Superset supports a “Drill to detail” feature: right-clicking on a chart element (including boxplot outliers) opens a modal with the underlying data filtered by the clicked point’s attributes. This can help users see more details about outlier points [see source](https://github.com/apache/superset/blob/master/superset-frontend/cypress-base/cypress/e2e/dashboard/drilltodetail.test.ts). If you need to see the actual entity/row for each outlier, your current workaround—adding a sortable table below the chart—is still the most practical approach without custom development. Superset’s boxplot requires aggregation and doesn’t support plotting raw, unaggregated data points, which limits direct linking of outlier dots to their original entities in tooltips [see discussion](https://github.com/apache/superset/discussions/35643#discussioncomment-14677499). There are ongoing community discussions about improving boxplot usability for outlier exploration (like adding a y-axis zoom slider), but nothing yet about richer outlier tooltips [see discussion](https://github.com/apache/superset/discussions/18507#discussioncomment-12870862). <!-- Dosu Comment Footer --> *To reply, just mention [@dosu](https://go.dosu.dev/dosubot).* --- How did I do?
