# Question: Is There a Simpler Way to Use a Basic Date Range or Single Date
Filter in Superset?

Hi Superset Team,

We are currently using Apache Superset for dashboarding and analytics, and
we’ve noticed that the default **Date Filter (Time Range filter)** UI feels
overly complex for business users.

 />

The current options include:

- No filter
- Last
- Previous
- Custom
- Advanced

While these options are powerful, they can be confusing for non-technical users
who simply want to:

- Select a **specific date**, or
- Select a **basic date range (From – To)**

---

## Current Challenge

The “Edit Time Range” modal introduces multiple range types and advanced
configurations, which makes it less intuitive for straightforward reporting use
cases.

Our business users prefer a minimal date picker similar to:

- A simple **Date Range Picker (Start Date – End Date)**
- OR a straightforward **Single Date calendar selector**

---

## Questions

1. Is there a built-in way to enable a simplified date picker UI in Superset?
2. Is there a configuration flag or dashboard-level setting to restrict the
filter to only:
   - Custom date range
   - Or single date selection?
3. Is there a recommended best practice to provide a more user-friendly date
filtering experience?

If this is not currently supported, is there any roadmap item or recommended
extension/plugin approach to achieve this?

Thank you for your guidance and for maintaining this great project.

Best regards
