Per @betodealmeida, a workaround for DB engine specs that don't support schemas is to add a dummy schema called 'main' to the engine spec. The underlying UX issue (requiring schema selection before tables appear) could be improved so the 'New Dataset' view falls back gracefully when no schemas are available.
