GitHub user LiamTorrelli added a comment to the discussion: allow creating folders under charts/dashboards
+1 on folders still mattering even with tags — the warehouse metaphor in heyromnivan's comment nails it. One nuance since sfirke's 2024 comment: upstream now has `DATASET_FOLDERS` in 6.x (drag-and-drop folder editor for datasets). Dashboards/charts are still flat. So the "tags vs folders" debate isn't fully settled in practice — folders arrived for one asset type, not the discovery surface most business users live in. We've been running Superset in production at scale and wrote a longer breakdown of: - where TAGGING_SYSTEM breaks down (discovery model, export, schema edge cases) - why flat lists fail around 50+ dashboards - how folder hierarchies + DASHBOARD_RBAC interact when you need team-scoped browsing https://drafted.work/blog/superset-tags-vs-folders Not arguing tags are useless — they're great for cross-cutting filters. But for "show me what Finance has without knowing the tag vocabulary", folders (or something folder-like) still win.
