Opened the upstream issue for the Postgres side: tobymao/sqlglot#8579 It has a minimal repro and the approach I'd take (keep the jsonpath as written, so '$.a' doesn't come back as 'a'). I have the patch ready and will open the PR there once the maintainers are fine with it.
