@sadpandajoe Good question. The specs test core host code, not a provider: the semantic-view structure and chart-data paths, the mapper, and native filters on a semantic-view dashboard. The real providers (Snowflake, dbt and so on) live outside apache/superset and need live warehouses, so they can't run in this CI. The stub is the smallest provider that exercises the host through the public `@semantic_layer` extension API, so breakage in core gets caught here. It's test-only: it loads only in the new E2E step through its own test config, never in the unit, integration or required Playwright runs. Each real provider's own tests still belong with that provider.
