+                    readToken);

Review Comment:
This per-call read has the same netstandard2.0 runtime issue: on .NET
Framework's HTTP response stream, passing a cancellation token does not
interrupt a blocked body read. Consequently the new per-call path can wait
indefinitely despite its response deadline. For the legacy target, register
`readToken` to dispose `responseStream` during a pending read and normalize the
resulting exception based on the cancellation source.

Review Comment:
The shared path takes its body-read deadline from `_connectTimeout`, while
the per-call path and public getter use the actual `HttpClient.Timeout`. With
an injected `HttpClient`, callers can change `Timeout` after constructing the
transport; headers then obey that value, but shared response reads still use
the stale 30-second field. Snapshot `ConnectTimeout` here so both paths
preserve the configured client timeout.

Review Comment:
On .NET Framework 4.8 consuming the netstandard2.0 build, the HTTP response
stream does not honor this cancellation token. A stalled response body can
therefore remain blocked past `ConnectTimeout` (and after `Close()`), whereas
the previous `PostAsync` path timed out. The legacy branch needs to register
`readToken` to dispose the stream while the read is pending and then map the
resulting disposal/I/O exception according to whether caller cancellation or
the transport deadline fired.
