Vincent Massol commented on XWIKI-2018:
---------------------------------------
I think it should be mentioned that XWiki does support private RSS feeds as of
now. You just need to pass basicAuth=1 to the URL and xwiki will send a 401
challenge to the client, so any RSS reader client that supports Basic auth will
work.
Those that don't usually do that voluntarily. For example google reader doesn't
support it but I believe it's voluntary for security reasons.
Sergiu, where you do see this needed?
Thanks

> Support URL authentication

> Key: XWIKI-2018

> Project: XWiki Platform
> Issue Type: New Feature
> Components: Actions and URLs, Authentication and Rights Management
> Affects Versions: 1.2
> Reporter: Sergiu Dumitriu
>
> In order to support private RSS feeds, XWiki should:
> - work behind https (does, with the correct container settings)
> - accept authentication using URL parameters, like
> https://server/bin/view/Main/NewsRss?xpage=rss&username=user&authtoken=token
> The token should verify the password and the IP, so that stealing it would
> not work.
