There's a bunch of things that we could probably do if a patch doesn't apply
(e.g., suggest a rebase), but we also need to be aware that (at least from what
we've seen in Hadoop), that people will also apply pdfs, and images, and... and
now we're posting messages to JIRA that are completely irrelevant.
