test-patch.sh doesn't include $BASEDIR in function parse_args, so I'm not sure
how I'd move the check there.
I guess I could add BASEDIR as a new value but the impact of that on the rest
of the script/Yetus is unknown to me, and I don't have a great way to test all
of the ramifications...
