Hi Christoffer, If you have properly configured notmuch for afew (`tags=new;` in "new" section) you should not need `tag:new`. All filters are only applied to messages with initial tag "new".
I had a similar problem with suckless.org mailing list. This is how I
have solved the problem:
[Filter.99]
query = from:d...@suckless.org OR to:d...@suckless.org
tags = -dev;+dev-suckless
