[PATCH v2 0/8] Rewrite mbox and raw show formats

v2 makes the new raw format support interior, as well as root and leaf
parts.

Patches 1, 2, and 8 are new but simple.  Patches 3 through 6 have not
changed.  Patch 7 has obviously changed quite a bit.
