I have written the promised test. I decided to match the "integration test" style of most of the other emacs tests, rather than just testing the function. I think this feature is currently undocumented, so let's fixed that while we are paying attention to this part of the code. I was thinking we should update the discussion at https://notmuchmail.org/doc/latest/notmuch-emacs.html#saved-searches but I'm open other ideas.
