Right you are! Method = 0x40. Which doesn't correspond to a valid subchan
method. But in that case, I'd expect to see a INVALID_MTHD on the next word --
the command itself is still valid. (Just looking at the pseudo-code at

-- perhaps it's inaccurate.)

So... the mystery is where does this 0x40 method come from. There are a lot of
potential culprites. Given that it's happening both to X and to some non-X
process that just uses mesa, I'm going to place the blame on libdrm or the
kernel... but that seems a bit far-fetched too. Dunno.

As for the memory management issues, of course, anything is possible. But it
shouldn't happen :)
