Just an update: The total desktop freeze happens in kernel 4.6.2, but very
frequently, after a few seconds/minutes of playing in Chromium or System
Settings / Compositor Settings.
OpenSUSE Tumbleweed 20160626, the same hardware: HP ZBook G2.
