Hmmm... this is probably a different issue then. To double-check, try booting
with nouveau.runpm=0 (which will disable all the runpm stuff).
Either way, please try to figure out where the echo gets stuck (you can echo
... something into sysrq-trigger, I forget what... 'w' maybe?)
