Have you guys ever seen this video: http://artengine.ca/desiredata/gallery/connection.mpeg
It's worth thinking about what can be done to make patching as natural as possible. I was thinking a couple other ideas too: - Grid mode where an adjustable grid is in the background and objects snap to the grid. - alignment guides, where the system helps you line up with other objects by having slight gravity towards lines that correspond with the edges of other nodes. (Like they do in Omnigraffle or Keynote if you've seen either of those.) - object completion would be great too, especially with namespaces it could be really smooth to have an automatic drop down menu that pops up below the text input as you type. - argument docs as well, where after you have typed in an object name it would pop up a box that tells you what arguments are expected. Hovering over an object should pop this up again, so it's easy to connect things later on without having to check the help to see which inlets correspond to what. Just some food for thought... _______________________________________________ nova-dev mailing list [email protected] http://klingt.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nova-dev http://tim.klingt.org/nova
