Cisco's DTP mode defaulted to dynamic on the port even though I had specified it was an access vlan port, thus it was still attempting to negotiate with neighbors through DTP packets and encapsulating packets in ISL as Natasha noticed. I disabled negotiation and forced the port to only be access mode and it solved it.
