This occurs in certain topologies, so depending on your setup, it may or may not happen. The setup we came across it in contained an ethernet switch connected to multiple Openflow switches on different ports. In this case, a host connected directly to the switch appeared to NOX as being connected to each of the those Openflow switches.
Not sure if that's clear, but the basic reasoning for event.dst being a list is that to NOX, a host (identified by its packet addresses) can appear as being located in multiple places in the network.
