I'll take a look at the destiny branch, and see what's left to be done.

What I want to do is to make the build system more standard, i.e.
install files in standard locations, etc. That's necessary for Debian
packaging, but it will also certainly help users that manage local
installs in /usr/local/ or in their homedirs, e.g. using GNU Stow.
