(Since Prince news is so scarce these days... this was posted by Tangerine17, who worked on the "Ultimate Prince" CD set, and has been a very reliable source on Prince news...)
http://www.housequake.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73119 So I just got home a secret party downtown L.A. on Main St. DJ Rashida and Vikter Duplaix spinning. Prince came early and sat down behind the turntables while Rashida spun 12" classics like "17 Days," "She's Always In My Hair," and many non-Prince funk, soul and r&B classics. Now when the 12" of Sexy Dancer came on, i was pretty surprised as it was one Prince did not allow for "Ultimate Prince," Prince was playing air drums and guitars and then got on the DJ mic (while he sat at the table) and song parts of the song over the mix and had a big smile on his face. Rashida mixed in "The Glamorous Life" and at that point Prince got on the mic like a true hip hop MC and cheered people on with a bunch of "come on ya'll, you know this song" and the crowd did and he was mighty pleased. Then again to my surprise she put on Rick James' "Give It To Me Baby" and Prince was liek "awwwwwww" and jumped out of his chair and danced like a funky funky man with his date Nandy (of the twinz). He stayed till 2am and busted out and people could not believe that they were in this tight little basement club and there was THE MAN himself, very relaxed and in a great mood. I thought you folks would enjoy it if I shared about it. great purple party. KCRW's Garth Trinidad did some MC'ing too. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NewPowerNewYork Mailing List website: Www.NPNY.Org ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe?
