If i remember correctly, his loss on tv was to Mary J. whom he
applauded and gave her a congratualtory pat on the shoulder from
behind when she won. He stayed around for a bit longer, giving a
standing ovation after Corrine/John Legend/John Mayer performance.
And yes that was Tamar sitting with him, since they were nominated for
duo.
More than likely he left early to prep for an afterparty if he had
one... as far as the tape... that would have gone to the network well
in advance of the show. Interesting that it was showed during a prime
slot--in the last commercial slot of scheduled airtime for the show
(of course the show went over time though).
It was an out of the ordinary thing tho, to have a commercial that
thanked folks for being such a great audience (?) for the half time
show... it's almost as if it anticipated not winning the Grammy's and
was shown to remind people just who the brightest star was :). Like
"Yeah I know y'all are sweating the Grammy's but just remember who
TORE SHIT UP last week!"
Lingering questions for me:
1. If he DID have an afterparty/show, was Tamar invited?
2. Though on screen interaction is hard to discern, Tamar & Prince
seemed to have little interaction while sitting next to each other. I
certainly saw her smiling towards him, but none of the shots showed
him acknowledging her in any way. I'm probably stretching here, but I
wonder what their conversations are like these days.
3. What's ol boy got in the works with that commercial... and the
draft seating chart for venues?
