MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The Minnesota Orchestra's recording of Beethoven's ninth Symphony has been nominated for a Grammy. The CD was released on the Bis label and is conducted by music director Osmo Vanska. The orchestra will compete against the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Nashville Symphony and the Atlanta Symphony in the orchestral performance category. Another Minnesota artist, Prince, also appears on the Grammy nomination list. He's up for best male R&B vocal performance for "Future Baby Mama" and best song for a movie or TV show for "The Song of the Heart." The song was written for the animated penguin movie "Happy Feet." And St. Louis Park native Peter Himmelman also got nominated for "My Green Kite," a musical album for children. The winners will be announced February tenth in Los Angeles.
