I was at both the Days of Wild shows (crazy chick in the red top that ended up on stage LOL) with a large group. We took a slew of pics and video. Stefance (DOW lead singer) told me about his conversation with you about Mayte right afterward. There was an article on the Daily News site mentioning that she was at Plumm that night, but no mention of her being at the Bitter End...a shame. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the band.

Friday night went to the yankees game (have season tix). They usually do a music choice where the players are asked to choose between 3 songs by one artist. On Friday night they showed an old one with Prince - I believe the three songs were Kiss, LGC, and Raspberry Beret. Let's Go Crazy won. The Yankees on the other hand...not so much. Not sure if they showed again on Sat. Sat - went to a bachelor party at a racetrack in NJ during the day and represented with my True Funk Soldier shirt. Bet on a horse that bucked off its jockey within thirty seconds. Not a good day at the races for Andy. Night - represented with my vintage Purple Rain tour shirt and went to BB Kings to see Days of Wild. First time I ever saw them and they were pretty good. The version of Get Off - a little fast but ended with a great version of DMSR and Turn Me Loose. They announced an after party at Bitter End at 1pm with a special guest. After the show - headed over to the Zipper Factory for the Burlesque show. The Zipper Factory restaurant, bar area, and theatre were really cool. In a somewhat run down area but get past that and check it out. The show was really, really cool. Never been to a Burlesque show before. The dance interpretations to prince's music were great, the DJ spun a lot of related artist stuff (Mutiny!), and a singer performed the Cross and Nothing Compares 2 U which became a sing along. Best act of the night...Little Red Corvette - girl started out dressed as a mechanic and made good use of a wrench and a car battery with jumper cables. And just in case they're kids on the list - I'll leave it at that. That ended close to 1 or so. With a prince dance party following. My friend Ally and I ran out and went down to the Bitter End. Got there a little after 2pm. As we walked in...Mayte and 3 other folks (assuming one guy was her boyfriend) were walking out. I stared at her wondering if that was really here and a guy walking out with her said - "Yep - that's her." I didn't talk to her just waved when she looked back inside before walking away. I should've got a picture with her on my phone, especially as I was wearing a Prince shirt. Well too bad. I thought she might have been the special guest but I asked the last singer of DOW and he had no clue she was there...Crazy! That's it... Andy <Moderator: Sounds like Funky fun Prince weekend. Me and the Kids went to see "Kung Fu Panda" and played video games while avoiding the heat. I watched a lot of VH1 soul too. :-D -Derek> ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NewPowerNewYork Mailing List website: Www.NPNY.Org ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe?
