hi all,

regarding 802.11, ns-2 uses some Thresholds to determine whether or not a
frame is received correctly by the mobile station. in other words, there are
two thresholds values:
1. CSThreshold_ and is set to 1.559e-11
2. RXThershold_ and is set to 3.652e-10

they are interpreted as follows:
if the signal strength of a frame is less than CSThreshold_, then this frame
will be discarded by the physical module and won't be visible to the MAC
layer.
if the signal strength of a frame is less than RXTheshold_, then this frame
will be marked as corrupted and consequently, MAC will discard it. ELSE, the
frame will be received correctly..

in addition, in ns-2, the transmission range is set to approximately 250
m...and the distCST_ is 550 m....

my question is, why is this huge difference? as this will affect the
performance...and is it required by the standard? I just couldn't find
anything supporing this issu.....I would appreciate it, if anyone could tell
me where I can find any explanation about this issue..

looking forward to any help.
