I am trying to simulate PON (passive optical network)in NS2. Topology
is given on the following link,

There are eight nodes connected with a passive splitter. Every
splitter may have 8 or 16 nodes attached making a total of 32 or 64
nodes sharing a single fiber. Splitter shown in green are passive and
they have nothing to do with routing or queues. They are just passing
traffic.Down stream traffic is multicast to all nodes and only the
desired node will accept. In upstream direction only one node can
transmit at a given timeslot and grants for transmit are assigned by
OLT for a node upon reciept of request to send.Medium between nodes
and OLT is optic fiber and data is sent in bursts upstream.

Queues are formed on nodes and not on splitters. I have to simulate
queue lengths at nodes if all 32 or 64 nodes have data to send.

Please help in this regard by giving ideas how to simulate. If I try
to simulate this senario in NS2 it recognises splitters as routers.I
will appreciate if some script is provided. Accept my thanks in advance.
