Dear everybody, I have conceptual misunderstandings in wireless communication. We use bit error rates in wireless communication in NS. I do not understand what packet loss and bit error rate mean. When we are using 802.11 wireless interfaces in an ad-hoc network and between any two hops, a forwarded frame is CRC checked, WHAT DOES BIT ERROR MEAN?????????????????
What I mean is that how can a frame get to a receiver with loss, I think it either completely does or doesn't get there. There's no way to get to the receiver with loss. Am I right or wrong? By the same reasoning, what does a packet loss mean? Doesn't 802.11 use ACKs? If it does it continually send a frame until it gets to the receiver, so where's the loss?
