I'm tackling an issue in calculating results for a class project. I'm new to ns-2, so bear with me :). One of the most important result for me is routing overhead (NRL), but I'm not able to put together an accurate measurement. All routing packets listed in the tracefile are also listed as 'dropped,' and there are quite a few of them (presumably retransmissions). It has been suggested that some of these drops could be due to traffic shaping (I am using CBR traffic), but surely some of the routing packets must be getting through, as there is still quite a bit of data being transmitted. I've seen a few other threads on this topic, but I never saw an answer, so I'm kind of stuck - not sure what to change in my simulations or in my interpretation of the trace file. Anyone have any ideas (i.e., is this a common issue)? I can provide more information regarding simulation settings and trace interpretation if that'd be of any use. Thanks, Teddy
