[ns] what model or tool was use to specify the position(coordination) of node in NS2?

In NS2, we can write a function to have 
the position(coordination) of node. But I want to know what model or tool was 
use to specify the
position(coordination) of node in NS2? For example, in fact, we use GPS
to specify the position(coordination) of node.
