[ns] How Does a DSR protocol chooses a best path ?

Hello Experts,
                 What I know is that it (DSR) selects the best path on the
basis of Metric (min. number of hop). Is it true or RTT (round trip time )
is used to select the best path ??
Reply please....though it seems a trivial question.
