Very interesting John, but they are a better fit with the other Highland Laddie
derived from the Lass of Livingston. Because of the rhythm they'll naturally 
also
fit a large number of other reels and Scots measures.

Before signing off for my late night birl practice it's worth reminding 
ourselves
that techniques and styles evolve. The GHB A birl, which I have seen referred to
as a 'Glasgow habit', is absent from the 19th C William Gunn collection from
Glasgow, so it's maybe not as traditional as we ususally think, while our
esteemed Chris Ormston has recently developed a D 'birl' for NSP.
