Well there's the story of one of Jack Armstrong's reeds which he is
supposed to have played for 50 years, until in some pipers gathering
or other, someone took it out of the chanter to look at it while he
was out of the room, and cracked it whilst putting it back in haste.
According to Patricia Jennings it was called "Old Nasty" - no idea
why.

I've had that story from several players, but it doesn't add up,
since he only started playing around 1930, and (I understand) was
obliged to give up playing several years before his death in 1978.
