If you're playing yourself rather than looking for existing CDs etc, and can transpose, a lot of hymns have fairly straightforward tunes and fit the pipes very well. Abide with me and Amazing Grace both do, as does Crimond which is so closely associated with funerals that some people won't have it for anything else. Hymn tunes can't spread over too wide a range of notes because they have to fit the range of ordinary voices, and they have to be sung at a pace an ordinary voice can manage. Dru --
