I don't want to wade into the many and various interesting and / or contentious directions these threads are taking. I simply don't have the time to do them justice. However I'd like to point out one minor (and apparent) misapprehension in the extract above. It reads to me (others may see it differently) as if the nsp list is presumed to be of recent origin. I can't remember exactly when it started, but I know it had been going more than a year when I joined it 15 years ago. In that time many and various things have been discussed, more or less constructively, and it is my personal opinion that on balance it has made a positive contribution to nspiping knowledge. I hope it still is, in another 15 years. Julia To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
