Anthony,
Vista with service pack 1 (Windows version 6) is as far as PTs is
compatable. Sp2 is not tested. Windows 7 (windows version 6.1 ) is still
vista with some tweaks and is not tested.
Apparently, if you record to a second harddrive (not the one your operating
system is on, nor to a partitioned part of the same harddrive) then it
should work. I doubt you laptop has 2 harddrives. Another problem is usb
harddrives are not supported.

Both ide and sata harddrives are compatable.
Therefore you may have a problem without a second internal harddrive.
