Ooh, difficult to understand - must take a crash course in Geordie!
Got it on the fourth try ;)
I do like the "old days" when a dominant seventh meant you had been
married six times before and this one was a bit over-powering!
So technical now.

Dear all
I couldn't help but be impressed by all the academic discussion about
tunes & drones in recent postings (although it makes me feel in a
foreign country at times).
By contrast, some out there who never got the chance to visit the homes
of the old guys might be interested in this tiny snippet from over 5
hrs of recordings made circa 1964 by the EFDSS.
This is from a recording at Matt Wood's house in Bellingham, he was in
his 80s at the time.
All this was before I got involved myself in the 70s but it is exactly
the sort of thing still happening in the 80s and even up to 2002 when I
went for my last tunes at Will Atkinson's.
Apart from the great memories, I like it because it mentions the new
technological break through in passing on the oral tradition - tape
recording.
