Aparently this is related to suspend/hibernate. The notifications daemon looses the connection after a certain period of time. But it is really hard to reproduce. For me it works the most of the time. And if the issue isn't present it is difficult to implement a fix or workaround. Due to this facts I believe this is likely not being fixed in 0.2.0.
