Guus Bonnema gave more information on the question: HI, I just wanted to add, that ncftp apparantly doesn't show exactly when it breaks connection. I connection running without any message for all day, but when I did a " ls -l" I got the following message: ncftp / > ls -l Could not write to control stream: Broken pipe. Passive mode refused. So I have no idea when the connection closed. But I am quite sure it was not one or two minutes.
