Status: Open => Answered Anton proposed the following answer: AFAIK there are no concrete plans for supporting parallel compression. However, since this is an open source project, feel free to volunteer! It seems to me a minor amount of work, as far a coding goes, since the needed tools (pbzip, pibz) are already available.
