Looked to me like Foley was taken off as punishment for allowing the shot for the 'wonder goal'. MM made a post match comment along those lines.
Ebanks-Blake would be a better option than Fletcher I reckon. Van Damme must have seriously p*ssed MM off to be left on the bench every match.
