Thought the report was missing a bit, the beers they had.

Had to get onto Lee to find out they had a Timothy Taylor Landlord in the
first pub.

A Cornish Bitter in the second which he believes was from a local brewery.

Peterborough report

.....I never thought I would be able to type those words again....

After a swift phone call to Peterborough ticket office, in order to confirm
you could pay on the day, and , that enough spaces were left, I talked
darling daughter into accompanying me to Peterborough. Another phone call
gained me another passenger, in the shape of Lee Morris, ex-listee and
recently re-patriated from Australia

Having not managed to catch up properly with Lee since his return, this
would give us a good chance to catch up along the M6 and M1 . Nicola comes
armed with the new Killers album, and we also play our pre match ritual CD ,
"This is War" ... 30 seconds to Mars. She is very superstitious is my big
girl, but she hasn't resorted to walking out of doorways backwards as yet,
or, munching hedgehog crisps, ( or whatever we decided was favourite!)

Decent traffic meant that I was soon heading through rural areas towards
Market Harborough, and the two hour drive very quickly slipped by. As I had
a wing man today , I could rely on Lee to spot pubs for a pre match pint as
I waited to turn into London Road and into the car park

We had our first pint in The Peacock, and beckoned in by some very welcoming
constabulary. We then left there to head to the Cherry Tree, finding it full
of Wolves in good voice and humour. Amazing what a couple of wins can do eh?
We left there around 2.30pm for the 10 minute walk to the ground

Its something of a renaissance in the footballing support mechanism for me,
in this League I actually feel the presence of a truer football fan, a more
knowledgeable fan, and there was no inkling of trouble whatsoever.. handing
over two crisp £20 notes gained Nicola and I entry, and Lee and I couldn't
wait to walk up the ramp to see what the terrace looked like..Nicola used
one of the 2 Ladies toilets, ( so she informed me), and whilst waiting for
her, I bumped into fellow list member Mr Phil of the Bradley....sorry mate,
couldn't stop chatting longer as I had to dash back to retrieve child in
waiting...will catch up with you longer soon...promise !

We took our spot on the left hand side of the goal about 10 yards up the
terrace , and typical of me, I just had to pick the spot behind the bloke
with a helium filled Mickey Mouse balloon that saw us all ducking and diving
or a better view as the damn thing bobbled around...didn't take long though,
some guy pushed past us with a cigarette lighter and severed the string....I
think the balloon will still be perched in the rafters of the stand

Solbakken the tinkerman rings the changes again, and Stearman, Boukari ,
Edwards and Siguardason are on the bench, Foley, Blake, Peszko and Doumbia
take their places...

The sun was shining, it's a beautiful day , the pitch looked in great
condition, and being able to stand again to watch a match was fantastic. We
open the game with some nice interplay with Henry , Doumbia and Peszko, the
latter looking more fit than in previous games. Half an hour in, and we are
in total control, Peterborough have had a couple of shots easily saved by
the safe handling of Ikeme, and it was no surprise that Blake earned a
penalty from Doyle's pass to him in the box, the defender making a rash
challenge that took his standing leg. Blake puts ball on spot, and hammers
down the middle....even if the keeper had stood still he still wouldn't have
saved it as that ball crashed in at a decent rate of knots.

You could visibly see the confidence drain from Peterborough, and Doyle was
unlucky to put a 20 yard drive wide of the post. At half time I had a text
from list member John de Wolf, who was at the airport, and I told him not to
worry as we were in total control of a very poor side...( did I really say
that?...must be the medication I'm on)

Now of course, this is Wolves and naturally we have to endure a couple of
scares to keep us on our toes, and in particular Ikeme, who made a couple of
decent saves from angled shots, however for once, our substitutions made a
very positive impact, Sigurdason comes on for Blake, who received a great
ovation for his unselfish running and effort....Boukari came on for Peszko,
and their full backs were being pushed further backwards and tiring by the
minute

With around 10 minutes to go, some sloppy defending allowed Siguardason to
nick the ball form him, he cleverly draws the keeper and clips a beautiful
Keanesque left foot cross shot that nestled superbly in the old onion sack.
Mass delirium, 2-0 up again, and three wins on the bounce since Connor has
left, great finish, and well deserved

Another chorus of "shoes off if you love the Wolves".... it's so funny to
see this chant with fans holding one shoe aloft ...cracks me up

I'll be honest, we never looked like losing this game, and I know we have
only beaten two of the bottom three on our travels in 4 days, but you can
see the plan, and you can actually see the delight the players have , the
camaraderie and sense of well being. A win is a win, it will breed
confidence, and the French guys are getting stronger and fitter with each
game, although winter will be very interesting to see how they cope with
heavier pitches. Good to see our new mate Roger Johnson applaud the fans at
the end, and reciprocated for another commanding performance at the back

Sheffield Wednesday next weekend, they have already sold their 3000
allocation, so should be a great atmosphere, as they too, are good football
fans

Bit of a delay getting off the car park, but soon back on the A14 and
heading home, I dropped Lee and Nicola off at their respective homes, I hit
the sofa at 8pm, very happy and very tired, over the last 12 months, not
only have I started to really enjoy life again, but the football bug has
bitten hard, and long may that continue... so I took my shoes off for one
final time today, and yes, I sure do love the Wolves

Scores on my doors , for what they are worth

IKEME...argue with me all you like, he's a so much better than Mr Flappy....
7

FOLEY ...finally, a full back at full back...and it showed, great game
....8

WARD....I thought he had a good game, but still prone to giving too much
room and giving away possession .....7

BERRA ...solid game, although I always get the jitters when the ball is
rolled to him in our build ups ....7

JOHNSON....another great game, won everything on the air, commands the back
line so well....8

HENRY..... I think he's forgotten how to tackle, but we do look better with
him in the side ....6

DOUMBIA...this guy really could be a cult figure, good engine, but still
needs oiling......8

PESZKO....good work at both ends of his flank....best game yet in the
shirt......7

SAKO.....please, please become a hero, fitness still seems o be an issue
....6

BLAKE...tireless work up front, earned his penalty and dispatched with
aplomb.....8

DOYLE....my man of the match, he's class, full of running , and so glad he
stayed...9

The subs that came on did well in the time allowed and in particular
Sigudarson looked stronger today, and took his goal superbly

Fifth in the table.....another win on Saturday please to give us 16 points
form 8 games, and that average will see us very close in May....dare we
believe??

JIWAL

xx
