You'd better not turn off the windows Time service... About six months from
now, when one of your server clocks gets more than 5 minutes off, you'll
find that you won't be able to authenticate any users on it...

Depends on what is running on the server but the ones I normally pick from
are, most of the time all of these do not come off, unless it is a single
server in the site.
Alerter
*Browser
Messenger
DHCP Client
DFS
File replication
Indexing
Intersite messenging
*License logging
Print spooler
Removable storage
Windows time
Windows installer
There are a few more but that is all I am remembering off the top of my
head. Keeping in mind that those services might be needed in some cases and
this is not a guide line to turn things off. the * are a given no matter
what.

My servers lose about 10 services out of the box. Unless they have way to
much power then will ever be used then I just turn off browser and
licensing..

Subject: Win2k COmputer Browser Service.
Is their any specific reason the the computer browser service needs to be on
for? I disabled it in my NT4 domain cause of MAster browser issues with
win2k member servers and NT4 DC's. I am migrating to win2k AD, and need to
know if this service is still inactive on all non DC win2k servers, will the
network suffer any problems.. THANKS
