The 2K driver is what installs the 9x driver. When you install the 2K driver
you specify the alternate drivers from the same downloaded files (2k
download files, not 9x). If you download solely the 9x files and try to
install them as alternate printer drivers it will not work, that is why we
keep telling you to get the latest 2k drivers.

Good question.
I wouldn't except that when I download and install the latest W2k
drivers then go to a 9.x machine and install the network printer, the
printer doesn't work and I get a General and Details tab only in the
properties.
If I go to details and select New Driver and install the latest 9.x
driver it works great.
My main problem is that the 9.x driver is not getting downloaded to the
clients properly.
I though it was either the driver or something else.

Why would you want to update JUST 9x drivers and not update NT/W2K as
well?
We have all HP printers here and have used only HP-provided drivers.
They
work great.

My problem is I don't know how to add JUST the updated 9.x drivers.
I am trying to update an HP 4500N Color LaserJet

What kind of printer. Make sure you are using the latest drivers and the
correct ones. I had this problem with Lexmark printers. HP I have had no
problems with.

I have a Windows 2000 server that is being used as a print server for
9.x and NT clients.
When I setup the printer I added additional print drivers for the other
OS that I am using, 9.x.
I can't seem to figure out how to update the driver for that specific
OS. If I install the network printer on a 9.x client 1)It doesn't print
and 2)I only get a limited view of the properties.
I have to go to the client and install a new driver. Basically the
driver that is being downloaded to 9.x clients is wrong and I need to
reload it.

Any ideas how to update a print driver for an OS that the shared printer
is not installed on?
