I'm not saying that your cards are cheap. I had a few nics that operated
fine under win9x but under win2000 there was brutal throughput even with the
latest drivers. Once I manually set the duplex to 100 half or 10 half
depending on your switch capabilties it was fine.

Subject: Slow DSL speed on W2K Pro Machine

I have at home three machines connected to a DSL line through a router.
Until recently all three ran WIN9X but when I had a hard drive crash on one,
I installed WIN2K Pro. Under WIN9X, each of the machines had - and the two
WIN9X machines still have - download speeds of about 1.5 Mbs. The WIN2K
machine won't do better than about 500Kbs, even after tweaking both
automatically and manually with files and info from speedguide.net.

The network cards are all the same (Netgear FA310TX) and the WIN2K machine
has the latest driver for it.

Since the other machines continue to enjoy the high speed throughput, its
obviously not my DSL connection or router (changing router ports has no
effect on any machine).

Is there something that I am missing?
