I have a native mode AD domain (domain.local) and one DNS server. Im attempting to add a second DNS server and Im having trouble. The second DC installs the DNS service with no problem and Im attempting to add the server in my existing 'Forward Lookup Zones'. (Im doing all of this from the DNS MMC snap-in from my Windows 2000 Professional SP2 machine). I can successfully add the machine to the display, and it shows dc2.domain.local and domain.local in the forward lookup zone. I click on dc2.domain.local and it says "Zone not loaded by DNS Server...". No error logs show up in either the primary or secondary event viewer. When I select properties on the dc2.domain.local server it says the status is expired, and doesnt let me modify any of the other settings. The domain.local properties has the zone transfer settings properly configured, and the second DNS server is shown in the name server list. Anyone have any idea about what Im doing wrong, or where I can go to troubleshoot something like this? Thanks. --Salvatore (There are no issues with the primary DNS server.
