I've posted an update of this VBscript, which now runs from an
administrator's workstation to audit all machines from a domain. It uses WMI
to gather hardware info, so it works only against Win2k machines, or NT4
machines that have had WMI installed for some other reason. You must be a
local administrator on every workstation or server you choose to audit.

The script only audits machines that are on-line at any given time, so I
have it scheduled to run repeatedly from my workstation throughout the day.
It collects audit entries in a single file. After a week or so, I import all
of the entries into an Access database and use a query to eliminate
duplicates, taking only the most recent audit of each workstation.

Go to http://thecolonel2.tripod.com/audit.zip to download the file.
