SID? That restore brings back most of the registry entries?? Might not
be the best way to do it..
I would make another DC move the FSMO, DDNS and GC roles to it, dcpromo
out the current server then bring the new server up with the same name
and IP as the old one, then dcpromo it in.

Subject: AD Restore
We are planning on upgrading our exchange 2000 server to a beefier box.
I'm trying to stage this offline with an AD DC. The DC has the same name
as the live DC, do an authoritative restore of the system state, and
siezed all the fsmo roles since this is the only DC. When I try to join
a new box to the domain it cannot find the domain. IP, DNS settings are
correct. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
