I used NetIQ to migrate our user accounts. Though a good product it still
has its shortcomings, especially when it comes to users with multiple
systems. Whenever a users profile would get jacked up after translating
security on the account I'd have to do the following to get restore the
original profile, even though it appears to be lost
User A profile gets migrated to Domain B.
User A logs in to Domain B and gets a new profile.
You log into users systems as yourself with Domain Admin rights.
Rename User A old profile from Domain A to .new or whatever.
Rename User A new profile on Domain B to .old.
Have your log in to Domain B.

Subject: maintaining/preserving profile
On a related note - here is a similar request:
User A in domain A gets migrated to domain B. User A logs in for the first
time in the domain B but gets a new profile. User A gets mad cause the
background wife/kids pix and all shortcuts are gone. Now there are several
ways to "move a users profile" so the user has all the stuff they had
before:
1. copy the old profile (make it a roaming temporarily) have it dnload from
the new server/domain - must set permissions of course unless you are using
ADMT and SID history is there
2. use a 3rd party tool - does anyone know one?
3. What have others done?
TIA
